Make sure sound isn't muted

At the bottom right, in the system tray Click where you see the clock Click on the time

Adjust the volume using the slider.

Confirm that the sound is coming from the speaker

At the bottom right, in the system tray Click where you see the clock Click on the time

Next to the volume slider, select the Right arrow. (*NOTE* You will not see this option unless you have an external device like headphones or a speaker plugged in.)

Change where sound comes from (output). If it says it is using headphone, change it to Speaker (Internal) or vise versa and see if it works

Unplug audio devices (like headphones or speakers) from your Chromebook to see if audio will come out of the speaker.

Try plugging in headphones or a set of external speakers to see if those work.

Sometimes this is as simple as selecting the audio icon (looks like a speaker, right next to the time display, or above the Settings as seen in the photo) at the bottom right of the screen, clicking the arrow to the right, and then selecting the headphone option. The Chromebook should do this automatically, but often does not.

Try a different audio source. For instance, try a video clip from a different website.
